Fixing the defenestration of science

The last eight years of the Bush administration have seen an erosion in science and research policy that is based, well, on sound science. Issues like global warming and stem cell research have been relegated to the back-burner, and I would even venture in saying that the US has seen a deterioration in scientific accomplishments due to the lack of support provided by this administration. Under the assumption that the Congress will remain in the hands of Democrats, will you pledge to bring back to the table at the beginning of the 111th. Congress the issues of stem cell research, policies that fight global warming, and an increase of research funding towards the treatment of major health issues such as cancer and the availability of healthcare for all? If so, where will the funds come from?

Well, I hope the funds are still coming from the charities and businesses which have an interest in the above, as

it is not the role, the job, nor the responsibility of the government to collect tax money for such projects.
