Veterans

We all appreciate Senator Webb's leadership on the updating of the GI Bill.

However, many of our veterans face chronic homelessness, others are receiving inadequate physical or mental healthcare, and an unconscionable number of military families can't make ends meet.

Madame Speaker, how will the House improve its support of our troops?

This posting represents one of the biggest failures of our Goverment. We still see many of the Veterans from Viet Nam on the streets and seeking help from an underfunded and overcrowded VA health care system. It seems our Goverment would rather spend billions on aid to t to forgien countries that hate us than a few million Veterans who have shed thier blood and lifes for us.

Well, thanks for you comment, but I'll have to disagree with you on one thing. Certainly, it is incontrovertible that this government has failed our veterans; and that we, as citizens responsible for our government, are obligated to ensure that such a disgrace never mars our history again. However, there is no need to choose between supporting humanitarian efforts and supporting civil societies throughout the world and supporting our veterans at home. It's worthwhile and necessary strategically and morally to increase our foreign aid commitments.
