Energy Strategy

Ms. Pelosi,

You have had almost two years to formulate an energy plan, what gives?

Instead of spending your days decrying George Bush for all the worlds evils, take charge and get something done.

1. Drill anywhere and everywhere. We have the technology to get the oil and be good stewards of the environment.

2. Build Nuclear Power plants.

3. Tax credits for Solar power.

4. Focus your energies in helping the American People instead of how you can give pay back to Republican. All the years your party was the minority you had a policy of obstructionism. Leading means making compromise, not my way or the highway. Learn from this or you stay as the majority will be short lived.

  1. Drilling won't solve anything. It just puts more carbon in the air, which not only contributes to global warming but increases the acidity in the oceans. Oil is over.

Nuclear fission isn't a good long-term answer. The type of uranium we use won't last a couple of decades, and it is very expensive, even if we knew what to do with the waste.

We ought to put money into fusion because it has better long-term prospects, but solar, wind and thermal are the best options at this point. There ought to be a tax credit for passive solar, too, because it is very cost-effective.

And, BTW, all the oil we could get from ANWAR and the continental shelves just delays the inevitable by a year or two. We have to get off the oil habit. Energy independence is a national security issue. At current production rates, the U.S. will be totally out of domestic oil in about ten years, whether we drill in all the wildlife refuges or not. At that point, we can expect Saudi Arabia to dictate U.S. foreign policy. I think they've been practicing already.

  2. Drilling is not the answer, and Pelosi has rightly called it a "hoax" that will not solve anything. If we're serious about addressing the energy crisis, we have to end our addiction to oil. That means alternatives to driving, and more efficient cars with cleaner fuels when driving is necessary.

  3. I think anyone who thinks fossil fuel is an answer is stuck in the 50's. We MUST look for renewable ,clean energy sources. We have had the technology for DECADES, but people in power have kept us using fossil fuel to line their pockets. The time has come to say NO to DRILLING, SCRAPING the mountains away to get coal, destoying irreplacible gems of nature in the process. These "people"are only concerned with their bottom line.We need to move forward and use the energy supplies that will NOT destroy the earth and us with it so these greedy bastards can make a few dollars more.

  4. Speaking of the bottom line, do you know that our government collects more money from the oil companies than the

oil companies keep? Some windfall for the government, don't you think?

Thousands of scientists do not agree that global warming is caused by anything humans do.

Besides that, during this last year, the temperature actually dropped.
