Earlier this year, you intervened when the DOD refused to allow Representative Tammy Baldwin's partner join her on a flight because she was not considered a spouse. This event and your willingness to be outspoken has placed you in an important position to afford equality to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Americans - especially those that serve in our military.
What do you plan to do to see that Don't Ask, Don't Tell is finally repealed and what is your motivation in doing so?

Because we can't understand why this president is still in office when he should have been impeached for serious crimes, there are currently strong suspicions that you too are guilty of committing and covering-up crimes against the nation. There are new accusations that you are interfering with the House Judiciary Committee's decision to enact inherent contempt charges against Karl Rove, Josh Bolton and Harriet Miers. Is the Speaker at all afraid that the international community will demand that the Bush administration must be tried for war crimes, including torture, renditions, kidnapping, etc., and that she could very well be implicated and even found guilty for her complicity? Or is it her opinion that if she continues to prevent any investigation or prosecution of Bush and his henchmen, they will be able to exonerate themselves via the Presidential Pardon authority even against charges brought by the International Community?

First off, dont you think you should seriously consider impeachment? It would show other crooked republicans they cant get away with crime. Speaking of crime, what is the problem with solar? Its clean. We all know republicans are all about big OIL so maybe if you start with impeachment, it will show them we mean business. So my question would be: Since you promised the people when you got in office that you wouldnt give them another dime towards this deceptive war, and you did, then how can we trust you period on clean energy?

How does a Democratic President with a Democratic House and Senate manage the economic concerns of an Army that returns from war? In other words, how do you as the Speaker plan to deal with veterans and active Army benefits, conflict management such as Afghanistan, continued recruiting efforts, future R&D, and (personally, the most important issue) the continued politicization of the Army and the military as tools of your chamber, the Senate and the Executive?

I logged on for the first time to check out the questions for Speaker Pelosi. I just have a couple of comments for people submitting comments or questions on this site. I have learned a lot of interesting things in my many years on this planet. One is that someone is more likely to listen to you if you are courteous and respectful (unless it REALLY isn't warranted). Another is that no one will take you seriously if you cannot spell or if you cannot use something close to proper grammar. Rudeness and attacks just assure you will be ignored as will a letter that looks as if it were written by a grammar school child. Can you say "spell check"?

Whom would you recommend to replace you with after the November election? Someone progressive, courageous, and effective for a change?

What will Congress do to end mountaintop removal coal mining, which is devestating communites and mountains in central Appalachia. Will you start by cosponsoring the Clean Water Protection Act, which would disallow coal companies from dumping millions of tons of toxic mining waste into valleys, many which are the headwaters of much of the eastern United States.

When we submitted a question to the speaker, the web site never mentioned that the first part OF OUR EMAIL ADDRESSES would be used as our identifier permanently. You can't delete your past questions or erase your profile.
Then this web site pops up whenever your name is or email is googled, whenever someone is vetting your resume, etc. Please, moderator, wherever you are, take down this old web site or allow it to be modified by the users! Thanks.

Dear Ms. Speaker -
Massive government spending on both social services and the military has continued under both Democrat and Republican administrations. The spending is out of control and threatening to break the back of the US economy, especially as we strive to maintain excellence in a world where other countries have far lower standards than ours.
How can we help policy makers on both sides of the aisle stop spending our tax money so wrecklessly?
