The Deception of Diebold

Stage: Active

Campaign: Elections/Strategy

Would impeachment follow, if it was revealed that the president won the election with the help of Diebold, which the republican help implement as a major voting tool? and also looking through the scope of what has transpired under his administration. this subject would fall under four categories, foreign, domestic, technology, but I'll choose elections/strategy

Fundraising for Al Wynn

Stage: Active

Campaign: Elections/Strategy

Madame Speaker, I know you are committed to electing Democrats to Congress and working to enact progressive legislation to creat important change in the country. I am curious how you would reconcile your work in this area with your decision to fundraise for Rep. Al Wynn during his primary against now-Rep. Donna Edwards. It was overwhelmingly clear that Donna Edwards was more progressive on an important range of issues ...more »

McCain's secret records

Stage: Active

Campaign: Elections/Strategy

Why is Congress not acting to get John McCain to reveal his secret POW records? Why are they still under lock and key after more than 35 years? What is in those files that the presumptive republican candidate doesn't want Americans to know? The only documented information we have about his time in prison comes from the Russians and the Vietnamese, who agree with each other, but substantially contradict McCain's ...more »

Our next President

Stage: Active

Campaign: Elections/Strategy

Since Obama is clearly unelectable, can he nominate Hillary at the convention? She CAN beat McCain, and Obama could use the experience he will gain as VP for two terms. Otherwise, we must conclude that the Democrats WANT another Republican administration. In that case, I'm going to the GREEN PARTY!

Will you support Hand-Counted Paper Ballots at the polls?

Stage: Active

Campaign: Elections/Strategy

There is no way to verify the results of election results when electronic equipment is used to count the votes. Any computerized tabulation can easily be manipulated to influence the results of any race or issue. Even paper vote scanning machines can be tampered to skew the true will of the people. The arguement against hand counted paper ballots that it is too time consuming and too expensive just doesn't work if ...more »

Can female leaders be elected to office without completely subscribing to male paradigms?

Stage: Active

Campaign: Elections/Strategy

Speaker Pelosi - you are a great example of a woman who has found a place on the political stage without totally sacrificing your femininity to get there. How can future female leaders find power in their femininity and use it to sell their leadership qualities and accomplishments instead of aligning with traditional male branding, rhetoric and political paradigms?

Swiftboating, Free Speech & Dirty Tricks

Stage: Active

Campaign: Elections/Strategy

Any plans to help limit political hate speech like Fox's hate-spewing tirades and Swiftboat-type lies while letting McCain's Secret Service detail arrest the librarian for "trespassing" on public property with a sign saying McCain+Bush?

Maybe you could you also explain how we've ended up with "Free Speech" zones anyway? And why Karl Rove and his minions aren't in jail?

Making Deals With the American People

Stage: Active

Campaign: Elections/Strategy

Madam Speaker, We were told when Congress failed to put limits on Iraq spending that Democrats had made a deal with the White House over this, and we were told that Steny Hoyer had come up with a deal with the White House (and Republicans) over FISA (which turned out to be a deal mainly to put political pressure on the courts to bail out the telecoms). When will you start making your deals with the American people and ...more »

Halting Bad Policy

Stage: Active

Campaign: Elections/Strategy

Madam Speaker, You aren't fooling anyone by telling us you don't have the votes. Most of us have some notion of how Congress passes a bill, and we fully well know that as Speaker you have many means at your disposal to shape those bills or stop them completely. Every bill that's come to the floor has at least your tacit approval. Therefore, we hold you fully responsible for all of those bills, including money spent to ...more »

Campaign Finance

Stage: Active

Campaign: Elections/Strategy

The Supreme Court, in Buckley v. Valeo, ruled that money is a form of speech and is due the same protections. Since that decision (1976), money has been more and more a determining factor in our elections.

Would you support a constitutional amendment to overturn Buckley, or do you have other proposals to reduce the influence of money in politics?

Role of Superdelegates

Stage: Active

Campaign: Elections/Strategy

How do you feel about limiting or eliminating the role of Unpledged/Super Delegates in future Presidential nomination processes? I am especially concerned about those delegates who have no constituency, and thus were chosen by an insider process with little transparency to the general public.

2006 Mandate

Stage: Active

Campaign: Elections/Strategy

The 2006 Congressional election gave you and the Democrats in the House a mandate: among other things, to withdraw from Irak. Yet you did nothing to enable any policy toward that goal. Your voice was lost almost inexistent in the political arena of the last 2 years If any of us in the Corporate America will fail at work the way you did, we would have very hard time to keep our jobs. Are you planning to step down?
