The Constitution establishes the right of every citizen to be equally represented to the government. Without this right everyday citizens have either diminished power or no power to protect our rights or the Constitution from attacks by special interest groups. Given that maplight.org recently reported that the 94 House Democrats who changed their votes regarding telecommunication company immunity (or amnesty) in the FISA amendment bill received nearly double the amount of campaign contributions as those who did not switch their vote - would you say that equal representation even exists in this country anymore? How is it that the concerns of everyday citizens who should be represented in the government are regularly cast aside for the concerns of lobbyists and corporations - who are not citizens and have no votes nor rights to representation?
