Defining Freedom of Religion

America includes tens of millions of conservative, liberal and moderate Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Taoists, Wiccans, and members of other belief systems, as well as atheists and agnostics. Yet federal policies always seem to be dominated by the doctrines of conservative Christianity.

In your opinion, does freedom of religion under the first amendment include all belief systems, or only ones that are popular or that you personally like?

How will you use your position as Speaker (should you be re-elected as such) in the next Congress to promote freedom of -- and from -- religion?

The first amendment says congress shall make no laws regarding those religious freedoms.
So Nancy isn't supposed to touch this!

Bojo, I'm afraid you missed the point of the second sentence in the first paragraph.

Congress routinely passes laws that violate freedom of religion. See the files of Americans United (www.au.org) for details.

I want to know if Ms. Pelosi will put a stop to such unconstitutional laws.

I would appreciate someone spending the time to gather up all the 'religiously' oriented legislation or matters brought to the floor in the past eight years. I realize a great deal of these matters are masked or positively cloaked under rhetoric or less obvious terminology, but wouldn't it make a great article? One would, naturally, have to be pagan of some form to differentiate 'secular' matters from matters smacking of imposed morality, however....it would be fascinating.
