Madam Speaker, When you became Speaker of the House you vowed that there would be a new way of doing things in the House. You said that under the new rules that no bills would be brought to a vote unless they had had a full 24 hours to be read and the process would be an open one.
Regarding the FISA bill, you and Steny Hoyer rushed a very flawed bill to the floor of the house without allowing the public enough time either to read it or comment, knowing that this was an important issue to those of us who care about the Bill of Rights.
Unless you were trying to hide information of your and other democratic representatives complicity in warrantless wire taps, what could possibly have been your reason to rush this bill which includes telecom immunity to the floor of the House?
Is this bill at all connected with your insistence to keep impeachment off the table a result of some kind of blackmail being held over your head? If so, what could possibly be more important to the country than upholding the rule of law?
