Steny Hoyer - Why is he in charge of the Democrats?
Posted by glenn 07/07/2008 12:00 AM PDT
Given that Steny Hoyer betrayed both his party and his country by negotiating a capitulation with the Republicans on changes to the FISA bill when it was both unnecessary to our political fortunes, an increase in presidential power, and sell-out on accountability, why is he in a position of leadership in the Democratic Party? What will you do to promote someone better for his position

Steny Hoyer is your creature even though you prefered Murtha. His treason is your treason. Why should we not support removing both of you from any vestage of leadership roles.

Hoyer only allows emails from people who live in his district, but he is the House Majority Leader and as such represents us all. Also, in the recent runup to the FISA retroactive immunity legislation, he lied to the people and possibly his staff.

We need someone to explain to Hoyer what the interests of the Democratic Party and the American people are before we send him off to parlay with the Republicans. He doesn't seem to be very clear on this. I get the impression that he's confused our interests with those of the large corporations and a few, rich, neocons.
